Madrid's rich and often overlooked history includes a period of tremendous resilience when the city endured three years of brutal fascist bombings during the civil war (1936 - 1939), making it a global symbol of unwavering resistance. Emerging from 40 years of Franco's dictatorship, Madrid became the epicenter of a rapidly transforming political landscape, setting the stage for the cultural and social explosion of the 1980s.

Route and Duration

The tour visits Plaza de Oriente, Puerta del Sol, Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, Atocha 55, Lavapiés, Congreso de los Diputados, Hotel Palace, Museo del Prado, Casón del Buen Retiro, and Museo Reina Sofía. It lasts 2.5 hours, including the visit to the Museo Reina Sofía.

About Your Guide

Guillermo Logar is a writer, director, and playwright specializing in adapting journalistic and literary works into audiovisual productions. He studied theater in Madrid, London, and New York. From 2018 to 2023, he worked on various audiovisual projects about the Spanish Transition and directed the documentary "Guernica: el último exiliado" as part of the Picasso 1973-2023 Celebration, which received funding from the Ministry of Culture and the European Union's Creative Europe program.
